DKP
DKP Stands for "Dragon Kill Points" and is a system invented by players to track and hand out loot more fairly from raids.
Supported DKP Systems
Our DKP section supports "Regular" and "Zerosum" DKP. When you add raids you can select which DKP system they use.
Regular DKP awards points to players for certain actions; you can award points for attending raids and killing bosses, as well as earning hourly points and having adjustments. The points earned are then spent by the players on items, with the highest bidder receiving the item.
Zerosum DKP sets a DKP value on items, and everyone participating in the item gains their share of the points, with the buyer then losing the full amount. Zerosum is more easily explained in an example: A rare sword is determined to be worth 50 DKP, 10 players participate in getting it. Each player receives 50/10 = 5 DKP, and whoever receives the sword loses 50 DKP (making his total -45 DKP).
Creating Dungeons
Our DKP system is organized by dungeons. Each dungeon acts as a container to view all of the points, attendance, raids and items that took place within it. A dungeon can also set default values for the raids that will take place there. Here's a quick example:
You create a new dungeon and name it "Icewind Citadel". You assign it to use the Normal DKP system and to be worth 20 DKP for attending and 5 DKP per hour. You also add several Bosses to the dungeon, such as "The Lich King" and "Rotface". Now that the dungeon is setup you can go inside of it and add a new raid for it. When you do so the raid will already use the Normal DKP system and be worth 20 DKP for attending and 5 DKP per hour. It will also have the bosses you added already populated for it (though all of these you can customize per raid if you need to). Later you can continue adding more raids for Icewind Citadel each time you run it, often only having to change the raids date since the dungeon contains all of the defaults for you.
Managing Raiders
Raiders represent the players you raid with and can be added from the main page of the DKP Section by clicking "Manage Raiders".
When you create a raider you set their name, race, class, guild and whether they are active. The guild field should only be set for raiders from other guilds (such as if you are in an alliance or you have frequent non-guild members who raid with you); leave it blank for members from your own guild. The active setting determines if the raider is active or not, inactive raiders get hidden and do not show up in any of the DKP sections.
*note: because deleting a raider may affect the DKP of others, our system does not allow you to delete raiders who have DKP associated with them; instead you can flag them as inactive which hides them. If you really want to delete a raider you must first remove all their DKP, and then you may delete them.
Adding Raids
Now that you have your Dungeons (a place you will raid) and Raiders (players who go on raids) setup, you can begin adding raids. To do so step into the Dungeon you'll be raiding and click on the "Add Raid" button. From here first you can set the attributes you want for the raid (defaulting to what you set for the Dungeon):
Once you click "Create" you'll be taken to the Edit Raid page, allowing you to add data to the raid, such as bosses, items, hours and adjustments:
Each of these options should be fairly self-explanatory. You would add each boss you killed during the raid, each item you received, the hours each player raided and any necessary adjustments (such as bonuses for players arriving early). Each of the sections is optional, so for example if you don't track hours you can simply ignore it. As you add data you'll see the standings populate at the bottom you can use to verify everything adds up. Once you're done you can just follow the breadcrumbs at the top of the page back one and see the finished raid results.
Raider Pools
Raider pools allow you to group raiders together who should share DKP points. This is typically used when players are allowed to share their points between their main and alts (so for example someone could come on a raid with their healer alt if needed, but the points would be shared with their main). You can create Raider Pools and organize raiders into them from the "Manage Raiders" section.
WoW Addon Support / XML Upload
Along with manually creating raids, for games that support in-game addons such as World of Warcraft, the DKP section can be mostly automated. When you create a new raid, there is a check box for "Use XML data to populate raid", which will show a textarea for you to copy and paste XML into. If you use an in-game addon such as Headcount2, CT_RaidTracker or ML_RaidTracker, it can track your boss kills, items and hours for you and export them to an XML string, which you can then upload with your raid. This will then populate all of the bosses, items, hours, adjustments and raiders found within the XML for you.
The formats supported by our XML upload is quite flexible, and XML formatted for EQDKP, MLDKP and others should work (though EQDKP+ is currently not supported). If you try and upload some XML which does not work, please let us know with a quick email, and if you could include a sample of the XML you tried to upload that would be awesome. =)
