We've updated our DKP system to now support the Zero-sum System. If you are unfamiliar with Zero-sum DKP you can read about it here.

Zero-sum is basically a DKP system based on items, where the items have a predetermined cost before the raid starts (such as purple weapons = 30dkp, orange weapons = 50dkp, etc). When an item drops, the member who receives the item loses dkp equal to the items cost, and everyone else there gains their percentage of the items dkp value.

Example:
Pink Slayer Sword = 30dkp
Yookie gets the sword; Yookie receives -30dkp
10 other members were there when the sword dropped; they each receive 30dkp/10 members = 3dkp each.

Using Zero-sum with our system is very simple, create a new Raid template and select "zero-sum" for the dkp system field. Then create a new Raid using this template. To add items to the raid you fill in the items name, the items buyer, and the cost of the item. You then assign members who participated in getting the item. And thats it! All the dkp will be assigned and updated in the raid summary.

Zero-sum was added based on a feature request from one of our members; we are very open to suggestions and feature requests - if your guild would like to see any additions to our DKP system or any other aspect of the site do let us know =)

We've added formatting icons above textarea's where you can use BBCode.

The icons allow you to do simple formating such as bold, italic or underline text; and insert images or urls. Other formating options are also available, such as size and color, which is described by clicking on the ? help icon.

Amazon's S3 Servers, which we use to store image data [including themes, galleries and avatars], appears to be having issues today and some images are randomly failing to load.

Amazon has been made aware of this issue and it should be fixed shortly; until it is resolved some images may fail to load.

We've added a new page to MMO Guildsites, available from the Community link on the main menu.

The community page simply lists all the guilds using MMO Guildsites. It's an easy way to see how others are using MMO Guildsites for their guild.

Browsing the guild sites also gives a good overview of some of the features available and how they may be used, as well as what you can do with the Theme Editor and how your site may be organized.

Happy Belated New Year 2007!

Update: This block has been removed.

We've added a new block to our site: Google Adsense.

This block allows you to display Google ads on your site in the side columns. The ads are served by Google and show content relevant to your site; for example if you are a World of Warcraft guild the ads will show links related to World of Warcraft, such as perhaps a leveling guide.

To use this block you must have a Google Adsense account, as you will earn the money generated by these ads, not MMO Guildsites. You can use this block to offset the cost of hosting your guild site, or if you have a fair amount of traffic you might even make additional cash.

If you don't have an Adsense account you can sign-up for one free here: https://www.google.com/adsense/.

*Note: Don't encourage your guild members to click your links, this is checked by Google and will result in you not being paid.

**Note: You must enter your Google Adsense ID into the Block parameters of the Layout Tab; be aware if you grant other guild members Super Admin access and allow Super Admins to access the Admin Panel they will be able to see this ID.

We've made a change to the policy for image galleries for guild sites.

Our old policy was to limit the amount of megabytes of images you can upload per month, we are changing this to a limit to the total amount of megabyte of images you can have for your site.

The new limits for each package are as follows:

Standard - 1000MB (1GB)
Pro - 2000MB (2GB)
Premium - 5000MB (5GB)

These limits should be well beyond what most guilds will use for their galleries. As an example if every image you uploaded was 100KB, with the standard package your guild could have 10,000 images before reaching the limit.

We added a new block called "Gallery Slideshow".

It's a simple block that displays images randomly from your members galleries. The images fade in and out as it switches every 10 seconds. To add this block visit the Layout tab of the Admin Panel.

We've completed a round of updates primarily to the forums this week.

Forum Signatures
Forum Signatures will appear below all of your forum posts. You can set yours in your Account Profile Settings

Searching
Some basic searching options are available for the Forums now

Subcategory Permissions
You can now set permissions on Forum Subcategories. If all of the Subcategories of a Forum Category are above a users permission level the entire Category is hidden from the user. Permission checks take the highest permission level set, so if a Forum Subcategory is set to Admin privileges, and a Forum Thread within that Subcategory is set to Guest privileges the Thread will still require Admin privileges.

Move Threads
You can now move Forum Threads to a different Forum Subcategory if you wish. You will see a green arrow icon next to pin and lock if you have Admin privileges while viewing a thread, and after clicking it can select from a dropdown with Forum Subcategory you wish to move it to.

Forum Updates Block Available On Forums Page
You can now set the "Latest and Hottest Forums" Home Block to show up on the Forums page rather then your home page. It's a simple checkbox option when you add the block from the Layout tab of the Admin Panel. Setting this block to show up on the forums page will cause it not to show up on the home page, if you want it in both spots you can add two blocks; one for each =)

Navigation Links - Open In New Window
You can now set your main menu navigation links to open in a new window rather then the current one. When you add a link from the Navigation Tab of the Admin Panel there is an additional checkbox option to allow this.

Latest Forum Posts Blocks
You can now click on the "Last Post" text in the latest Forum Posts blocks to go to the last post in the thread. The text does not appear as a link for readability, it looks too busy with so many links, but it is indeed a clicky

Most of these feature requests came from our users, if you notice a feature you would like to see on MMO Guildsites or a change to how you would prefer something to work let us know and we'll look into it =)

Happy holidays.

Thanks to a feature request from one of our users we've added a new block today =)

WoW: Server Status

This is a simple block that shows the status of your server (whether it is online or offline) and its current population.

To enable this block add it from the Layout tab of the Admin Panel. It uses the 'Server' field from your Guild Settings to know what data to fetch, so ensure that is set correctly =)

We're very open to feature suggestions from our users and eager to improve our service, if you have a feature request you'd like to see added to the site let us know! =)
