Great job on the mobile version guys, it's really great.

One thing I have noticed on my Windows 7 phone (Nokia Lumia 800) is that there is an overlap of the boxes. For example, when I click on the Shoutbox, I can see the Shout conversation- and I can see the box to actually type something. But the box where you type actually covers over half of the shouts, meaning I can't read anything that is behind it.

It's exactly the same if I click on forum posts. The "Comment" "Edit" and "Delete" tools are overlayed atop the post meaning I can't read what is behind the tools.

I'm asuming this box where you type, or use tools isn't supposed to be stuck in the middle but perhaps at the bottom?

Hi Mizaki,

These actions at the bottom should appear as they are shown in our preview:

http://www.shivtr.com/blog/221-shivtr-mobile-preview

These are set to a fixed position at the bottom of the browser window with CSS; it sounds like perhaps fixed position is not supported in your Windows 7 phone which is likely what is causing this =(

edit: ah just took a peak on stack overflow; it seems this is not supported in WP7: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9313891/positionfixed-in-windows-phone-7 =(

Mizaki 12 months ago

Thanks for the quick response :)

Well that's yet another thing that's rubbish about Windows (I'm living to regret this phone!) maybe they'll fix it or can you amend things your end?

On a side note, a few guildies have encountered a couple of things:

"Only thing is that on the samsung galaxy s2, the text blinker thing appears behind the last letter you input. (only in portrait mode)"

"I have a G2 as well and the unread page doesn't allow me to access the posts."

Think that's it :)

Hi Mizaki,

Ah thank you very much for the reports; we are keeping a list of each phone and what issues are reported so we can hopefully get most of the ones we can fix resolved =)

Cheers,

Doh!! I thought it was a native application, spent 5 minutes looking on app store. Got it set to my home screen (iPhone4) via safari link. GREAT job on setting this up for mobile but would be an excellent job if you could make it native and push content to phone so it was available offline because I travel on le tube for work which lacks internet :(

Keep up the good work chaps :)

Lakvar 12 months ago

I did much like Dazzer... except I gave up after a minute, visited the site and let me tell you, it's a tremendous improvement over my previous browsing experience - it is slick and ordered. Running Android 4.0.3. on Sensation XE, all sections worked fine. Will be waiting for the Admin for Mobile update. I, too, would like the option for some content to be available offline, but whether or not, Big Thanks.

Totally didn't just use this to make an event while on the toilet :P

Great work guys, works like a charm :)

Looks real good, has scaled well on both my tablet and phone and is very fast :) . Thank you!

The very first thing that stands out to me, is that I want to customize what goes on the main page... because many of the stock built in features... as well as how they are named... are not what I want. For instance, we don't call our journals "journals" we call them the "Lost Chronicals" And they are also a very sparsely used feature (for now!) Also, our groups are called "viruses" and groups get looked at more than our roster, so it would be good to have choice for that.

Other than that, looks good, types good, nice and clean on my HTC panach /mytouch 4g android gingerbread 2.3.

Will update once I get more info

Jesya 12 months ago

I hate it- everything about it. And I hate the fact that if I need to afk for
Website it reverts back to mobile website even if I was in the "normal" view

HiveMind 12 months ago

also... navigating back to the main page... I know people can use bookmarks for that... but when your navigating through the forums/comments.... to get back to the main page takes many page loads.

U MAD BRO?

I find the overlay at the bottom a tad too large for landscape-style on my iPhone 4. I can barely see the shouts or navigate the calendar easily. Perhaps a bit more scaling is in order for the bottom section? I'm not one to use my phone upright. I'm always looking at stuff landscape-style. ;)

Also: maybe I didn't look close enough, but I didn't see that I had any messages until I switched to the original web version. Did I miss a way to tell if I has messages?

The calendar is a bit annoying to navigate as well. I click on a day and I get the week. Then I have to click the day again. The organization of it is a bit awkward, plus I have to click on comments to see if there are any, as opposed to the original web version which shows me how many comments there are.

Of course, a mobile version is going to be more simplistic due to the fact that it IS mobile, so perhaps I just need to play with it more. I'll nose about and start taking some notes and get used to it. Because, after all, you put all of this hard work into it, so I'd love to help with feedback! :)

Awesome, I was in the process of building a mobile app for our clan so that saves me a job. Is it possible to add a custom icon in the code so people can save it to their home screen

JPUlisses 12 months ago

For Android 2.2 should be the main version, not 2.3+, since most people still use 2.2.

HiveMind 12 months ago

Actually, the majority of android users use 2.3

Some more feedback! Sorry if I repeat
- roster should be sorted by online. I have 300 members. Also search function is needed there
- custom links, or changing the order of the main links
- custom names for links, because the names do not make sense for what we call them on the site.
- make the buttons light up when messages, new applications, new news.... Otherwise this app is useless, because I have to click on every last button to see what's new, if lots of shouting on the box and the like.
- I'm wondering.if a shivtr app would be more suitable, where things.like skin, pictures and settings can be stored on the users end. Some people didn't like the bland white ness. People with slow internet or data caps obviously appreciate it!
- clicking on items in the feed brings you to the post only... It's not intuitive to hit the back button to go up to the rest of the conversation... And then on top of it, the conversation starts loading at the beginning, so to see the last few replies, I have to hit back button, scroll down, and then wait for the long list to load, the find latest posts.
- a home button on every page would be wonderful
- a way to automatically select web version on start

More as it comes

The thing that strikes me the most is that there are a couple of features that I have turned on, but the links are disabled so that the regular members cannot access them. Unfortunately, with the mobile app, all enabled site features are visible, which really doesn't work well for me at all, and curious users might now cause some issues. I'll look into configuring some permissions, but with things like Videos and Gallery, it's difficult.

Allisandre 12 months ago

Just noticed, mobile app doesn't allow voting in forum thread polls.

8 Toes 12 months ago

Hi SylenThunder,

The mobile app does use the same permissions as your regular website, so if you wish to hide some features you can either turn them off from the Features tab of your Site Admin, or uncheck their view permission from guests/members; if a feature is disabled or a user does not have permission to view it, it will not show up on the mobile home grid =)

Thanks for the note on the forum polls; we'll get that added soon =)

Hi HiveMind,

Thanks for all your feedback, that is very helpful =)

The problem is that if I restrict their view access for the gallery, doesn't that mean that they won't be able to see images that I've linked from there and posted in the forums?

8 Toes 12 months ago

Hello,

Well yes thats true, but if you are linking them pics from the gallery, what harm is there in seeing the gallery section? =)

Cheers,

Allisandre 12 months ago

There were some old images there from previous members that i wasn't sure wanted to be shared. I did dome tweaking to the permissions and it's all good now. Really loving the interface. Awesome job.

I think the new mobile version is great - but either I am blind, or my old Win6.5 is not coping - I can't see how to navigate to the next page of a multi-page forum. Eg, I can read unread, but it only takes me to the first page. How do I get to the second, third, forth page etc of a forum?

Purrsia

8 Toes 12 months ago

Hi Purrsia,

It works with endless scrolling =) when you reach the bottom of the page, it should auto load in the next results for you (like how twitter works) ... if it does not, it could be an issue with the phone; we unfortunately do not have a windows phone to test with, and if it uses IE, especially an older version, there may be more issues with it than android or iOS...

Is there anyway to select a default view on our mobile devices? I use a iPad and a android phone to access the site, and while the mobile site is a godsend on the phone, on the iPad I rather use the main site as its perfect for the iPad.

HiveMind 12 months ago

I second the extra forum navigations. You never know how often you use those shortcut links until they are gone!

Its a great start, and just needs us users to keep giving feedback till it becomes a lean mean mobile machine!

Keri 12 months ago

Hmm.. using Opera 8 Toes, but no, doesn't seem to endless scroll. I'll try with the two other browsers I have, else it's my phone =( (I know it's old, but I love it.)

Gant 12 months ago

Great app thus far. Our league has been eagerly anticipating this. I'm the first to report it works well on the G2x! Most of our league is asking when the chatbox will be available - any update as to when the chatbox will be available?

Gant 12 months ago

A home button for every page would be ideal. :)
A way to see everyone who is online without having to check the roster.

Tonito 11 months ago

Do what ever you want but dont tell me ur sory

DarthDiggler 10 months ago

When will we see the Coming Soon features?

The lack of custom pages kinda eliminates much of my work from not being seen mobile.

DarthDiggler 10 months ago

@Gant You can see who is online you have a module for that. Chatbox is already available.
