Star Wars: The Old Republic Approaches!

Oct 22, 2011 at 07:52 AM in Features
In less than 8 weeks Star Wars: The Old Republic is being released, and to get a head start on things we're releasing a few SWTOR updates today!

SWTOR Themes
New themes have been added to the official themes section, one representing the Galactic Republic and one representing the Sith Empire. Each theme has two color schemes available, and as always can be loaded into our theme editor and customized.

SWTOR Races & Classes
Race and Class options for SWTOR are now added to the site, with icons for each race and class. Any new SWTOR site will have these setup automatically, if you already have a SWTOR site you can make yours match as follows:

Galactic Republic - Trooper, Smuggler, Jedi Knight, Jedi Consular
Sith Empire - Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent, Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor

In addition to the new Star Wars content, we have one general change:

Single Signon Cookies
The cookies for Shivtr have been updated so that logging into any shivtr.com site or .shivtr.com subdomain will log you into all of them. This means, if you login to shivtr.com, then visit your guild site at enmity.shivtr.com, you will already be logged in there and vice versa.

* note that this will not work for custom domains if your guild uses one such as enmity.com, instead you will still need to login to both sites separately.

We hope you all have great weekends!

Finally the updates start rolling out. Keep up the good work guys...

Just a suggestion, I would add a feature that incorporates Advanced Classes... Each class has 2 advanced classes and most advanced classes have two different roles they can perform. The reason this is important...if I am recruiting a specific kind of DPS (range or melee) of a Bounty Hunter, I have no way to advertise that without making my own custom layout. A Powertech DPS is very different from a Mercenary DPS...both of which are Bounty Hunters.

Just do it like me and make ur own class :D

Nice update but I'll have to agree with Guinea. Advanced Classes are chosen so early in the game (level 10) that they really are "the" class.

I created my own classes separating the basic and advanced classes with a | so for example

BH | Merceneary
BH | Powertech

etc

I'm sure the brilliant folks at shivtr can come up with a better solution though :)

Right now I am using the HTML box layout option to include all the classes. This way, you can include custom images for the classes so that the format looks similar to what they have above. It's a nice temporary fix until they add more options.

@preach: The same way like me :D

@Dozaar: I already have a fairly solid way of portraying my recruitment needs by using a custom HTML box and linking to an alternate page where I can show the details of my recruitment needs. With end game as my main goal, I will be very specific when recruiting, and my page allows me to do this. So I may want a Sith Inquisitor. But I would want an Assassin...and want him/her to be a tank primarily. That is 3 different specifications that need to be addressed with recruiting.

My suggestion was to allow mouseovers. Sort of like they do with the Progression box. If there is more than one raid for progression...you mouseover to show the details. Just keep the Classes for recruiting the way they are, but allow us to customize the mouseover...so when you mouseover the Bounty Hunter it will say:

Mercenary - Healer Open
Mercenary - DPS Closed
Powertech - Tank Open
Powertech - DPS Open

You get the idea...

Do you think there will be time where a single guild site can support multiple games? Our community is active in WoW right now but there are plans for us to expand into SW. While we can add custom race/class options to include SW, everything will still be drawing form the wow armory or other sources.

So in short, will it eventually be possible to use different features for different games on the same site? Thanks!

Hi Kysara,

We support multi-gaming through the Alliances feature:

I would love to see an increase to the text limit on the progression box... The first boss of the SWTOR Operations is Annihilation Droid XRR-3 and it does not fit. I understand I could cut it down or write something else, but the box is large enough to fit it perfectly. I think increasing it from 20 to 25 would be a simple change and not effect the boxes.
